I wish the picture would show it all. The dry earthy smell of the soft ground under my feet, years and years of pine needles softening each step. The murmur of the breeze, mixing on a tang of salt from the sea. The buzzing of bees and the higher whirr of mosquitos. The promise of blueberries in the underbrush, and the way the sun feels on my arms, just there, as it slants through the gnarly pines. It smells of earth and dust and summer, of childhood and adventures and the sea.

On my two week journey in Chile, I travelled from north to south, from sea level to 5000 m, from boiling hot to freezing cold, from lush and green to arid and dry, from spectacular to comfortable. It truly was a journey of contrasts. These pictures here were taken on my first day in San Pedro de Atacama, far north in Chile, in the Atacama desert. A short trip took me higher into the Andes, to see the El Taito Geysers and the very special Altiplanico landscape.

A trip to the seaside

I found myself packed into a car and on a trip to Selsey, the little land tip sticking out into the English channel, right near Portsmouth. We had perfect weather AND happened to stroll into a village fete. Unexpected but very charming nonetheless.

Prior Park – Bath

I have seen an embarrassingly small number of places in England considering I have lived here for almost five years by this point. To rectify that the Mister and I did a daytrip to bath. The first two hours took us to Prior park, a lovely English garden with some absolutely stunning views. If you ever go to Bath, the park is well worth the entry fee, especially on a sunny day.

Luzern

I lived in Zurich for over three years but somehow never managed to take the less than one hour train journey to Luzern. My loss, I’m glad I finally managed to go there. Luzern is an incredibly pretty city and well worth a day trip with a camera. I just wish I had my normal camera with me but unfortunately, being the idiot I occasionally am, I left the charger in London. These pictures here were taken with a small pocket camera. Enjoy anyway :)
